Hello Everyone!

Welcome to a new school year! I hope that you all had a relaxing and fun-filled summer. My name is Angelique Rasmussen and I am very happy to have the grades 5 and 6 combined class this year.  I've been teaching for almost 30 years (from ages 3 to 63), and with Island Catholic Schools since 2017 when our family relocated to Maple Bay from the Lower Mainland. My husband and I have been married for 26 years, and we have 4 children; three sons and one daughter. I recently completed my Master of Arts in Theological Studies from St. Mark's College at the University of British Columbia. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading and watching historical programmes. Mostly I love spending time with family.

My favourite parts about teaching are connecting individually with students and developing relationships with them. Needless to say, I was quite happy to learn that I would be continuing this year with many of the same students. We have great potential to continue building on solid learning habits already in progress.  It was exciting to watch students grow in confidence as learners during the 2024-2025 school year, and I look forward to another amazing year ahead!

The classroom environment is prepared, and instruction is offered in keeping with the Montessori method.  Please take a moment to read the letter above for more information about this. Students have access to specialized manipulatives to support their learning, and a flexible timetable in which to engage with them.  Additionally we will be using technology in the classroom, specifically Google Suite. The Google Classroom is linked on a button below, please look it over with your student frequently.  There is also a link for the Queen of Angels site and the Catholic Diocese of Victoria site.
