Welcome Letter

Hello everyone and welcome to a new school year!

My name is Daavid Peterson and I am new to Queen of Angels.   It is my pleasure to be here and I hope together we can create a terrific class.

About me

I have always enjoyed teaching even when I was a full time minister in the Church I loved spiritual education! I have taught now  eight years.  My father, sister and my daughter have all been teachers!

I am happy to be at Queen of Angels and looking forward to my year with the fives and working with Mrs. Plecas who I know is excellent in her job!

I am married to a lovely Peruvian lady called Milagros and we have "fur babies" - a labrador/border collie (Tillie) and a Bichon called Julliet.

Planners: Please check planners daily as will we - it is a great tool for us to communicate and also so parents can be informed as to homework and upcoming books.  Please check also that any books taken home or gym strip comes back to the school.

Homework: While we are not at our rhythm yet, homework is part of school life - probably up to a half hour although more will come with bigger projects.

Spelling: Your student will be receiving on Mondays  a spelling vocabulary sheet with a pre-test Thursday. This gives a chance to learn difficult words for their Friday test.

Many events will be coming up at the school so please use the calendar link often: https://queenofangels.ca/calendar/ Upcoming is the Terry Fox run on the 21st and the same day the Meet the Teacher at 5pm.  The 22nd will be a pro-D. day. Photos will be on the 26th and Orange Shirt day on the 29th.  Please note the school is closed on the 2nd for the National Truth and Reconciliation stat holiday.  Next month we will have the Tour de Rock as our guests for their fundraising for cancer research October 3rd.

I am looking forward to a great year! Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

   Blessings, David Peterson

Early Dismissal - First Wednesday of Every Month at 2:00pm

 Planners

It is important for your child to come to school with their planner as it is part of our morning routines.  Any important notes, homework or money should be placed in the front pouch of your child’s planner.  I will be reviewing the planners each morning and will make sure to check the front for any correspondence from you.

Uniform Reminders

Students of Queen of Angels Catholic School should be dressed in a manner that reflects pride in their school at all times.  Neatness in dress and grooming will reflect this pride and set a tone of serious commitment to a learning environment.  Parental cooperation is necessary to maintain a uniform dress code.  It is the parents’ and student’s responsibility to ensure that the uniform regulations are followed. Uniforms will be worn to school, in school, and leaving school year-round.  Please refer to the school website for further information.

  Don't Forget Your Water Bottle

Please make sure your child is coming to school with a reusable water bottle each day.  We ask that you keep juice boxes, energy drinks and other sugary beverages at home to enjoy outside of school time. Thank you for helping us make this positive and healthy choice each day!

  Attendance

If your child is going to be away for a day, it is very important that you phone the school and let the office know and they will pass the information on to me.  You can also let me know via your child’s planner or email if that is more convenient for you.  If your child will be away for a number of days, a request for catch up work can be made.  I will make sure it is at the office waiting for you to pick it up at your earliest convenience.  If your child is late, please have them check in the office prior to coming to class to ensure they become registered for the day.
