Ending the school year can feel exciting for your child at first. As the summer progresses, children might begin to feel overwhelmed or lonely. Here are a few tips to make sure you keep an eye on your child's emotional health this summer.
Practice Pulse Checks: Check in with your child periodically to see; how they are feeling now that school is out, how they are feelings in general, and if there is any way you can support.
Plan Ahead: Create a summer routine with your child. Make sure they have spend time outside and are still getting their daily recommended hours of sleep.
Pay Attention: Cue in on sudden mood changes. If you notice a drastic change in your child's mood for better or for worse, take this as a sign to do a pulse check.
Prepare: Keep the resources above handy, just in case your pulse check results in your child needing additional mental health supports.
