Due to COVID-19, various rehearsals and performances are subject to change.
At CIS we believe our student-performers learn a great deal by participating in performing ensembles. Our band program is all-encompassing as we offer learning opportunities to supplement our curricular Music Education for students from primary on through to graduation. Our music department strives to put our school’s principles into practice by viewing the Performing Arts as another context where deep, rich learning can occur. We look to instill conceptual, competency, and character based learning in all of our band programming while embracing our community principles through kindness, local and international partnerships, sustainable practices, and always operating with the assumption that we all have the best intent at heart. By providing a variety of performance experiences for student performers, our program helps students develop important habits and attitudes that prepare them for adult life.
Additionally, Music Performances naturally fosters school spirit and develops pride in the school and community for student performers and audience members. Consequently student performers and the Band Director are expected to exhibit the highest level of conduct, both on and off the stage, as they are representatives of their ensemble, school and community.
Indeed, student-performers and the Band Director are expected to demonstrate proper respect for one another, interscholastic performers, teachers, audience members and the community. Productive rehearsals and enriching performances provide excellent opportunities to teach our student-performers the virtue and significance of the CIS mission.
