I have been a teacher, cafe manager, dump truck driver, university lecturer, Fullbright research Scholar, restorer of old motorcycles, backpacking and rock climbing guide and election supervisor. I started working in Experience Design in 2001 - helping companies figure out how to put digital technology to use. I lead teams of designers who work with digital techs to build applications, websites, and digital products and services. My core principles are curiosity and creativity.
I am currently developing a curriculum using what I have learned from 20 years in Digital Design + 5 years of teaching including: design thinking, qualitative research, personal finance, digital safety (protecting ourselves against persuasive design and misinformation algorythms), starting up startups, etc.
I am simultaneously working on “basic life skills” course - the things our fathers would have taught us in the past, but have started to disappear (handling tools (knives, knives, saws, drivers), basic repairs (unclogging a drain, change a lightbulb), knots, using a compass, light a fire, put out a fire.
