My name is Hetty Boon, and I have been an educator for 15 years. The Canadian International School currently employs me as the Pre-K and JK-Grade level learning lead, a position I am incredibly passionate and excited about. My prior experience as the PYP Coordinator allowed me to develop skills and knowledge around becoming a workshop leader and school side visitor for the IB, which I thoroughly enjoy! I am trained in the Reggio Emilia approach, Harvard's Project Zero Visible Thinking, First Aid and CPR, and hold a variety of category 1-3 IB certificates.
Rewind:
After high school, the first degree I pursued was a degree in floral arranging, horticulture, and floriculture. Due to being a creative person who loves nature, I worked in flower shops as a floral designer who transformed flowers into artistic designs.
After 18 months of backpacking in the Middle East, I lived in a Kibbutz, which is an intentional community and Moshav, which is a type of Israeli town or settlement. When returning to The Netherlands, I decided to pursue a degree in social work and worked as a youth social worker and a disability social worker for many years before pursuing my degree in education.
Being a lifelong learner brought me to my interest in natural healing. At the Bach Centre, I completed a comprehensive education program as I wanted to use the original flower remedies to help others find emotional balance and wellness. This also led me to become a Reflex zone therapist as this was something I wanted to do to support my family if needed.
My love for music has led me to complete a course to become a certified DJ. I love to match my musical expressions with the desires of an audience. It is not just matching beats or scratching over songs. It is about being observant, empathic, and reactive. I love to engage with an audience while playing amazing songs.
