During the Going Further stage, I thought about all the different ways I can help. At first, I planned to do a dive against debris but I couldn't because we had little time and I couldn't go to Malapascua to dive. Then I decided to plan a dive brief instead to tell divers on dive boats how to be responsible. I think it's actually more sustainable because dive against debris is just one time but my dive brief will be there forever and many people will use it.
My Influential Person Poster
This is Marcus Benders. He started a dive shop called Devocean Divers in Malapascua. He is knowledgeable, caring, and principled.
I think he is influential because he helps clean the ocean and tells others to do the same. And he doesn't only care about the ocean but also the people he works with. He inspires me to be a better person like him.
I believe that we should value our corals and protect our corals because they protect coastal cities and areas. I once saw a plastic bag on a coral and I put it in my pocket. Then I forgot about it. I found it again two weeks later and threw it in the rubbish bin.
Watch me give my dive brief!
I will be actually doing this on the boat in Malapascua.
I took action to inform people and change other people's behavior by preparing a dive brief for divers visiting Devoceans in Malapascua.
I found it hard to think of what I should write in the briefing and what words I should use but I did a lot of research and got feedback to make it better.
My action could be considered sustainable because it helps the environment and tells people about it. Even when I'm not around, people can still use the dive brief to know what to do and what not to do underwater.
I also created a coral to display at Devoceans. It catches people's eyes. I printed out information from my dive brief so that people will read the information.
