RFiD THREADS® TECHNOLOGY
The RFiD THREADS® is a B2B tool to connect the value chain; including the resource recovery sector, charities, communities, councils, companies and countries and collect data the same as a Passport showing its journey; like a boomerang that collects data as it closes the loop.
RFiD THREADS® are single, separated 15 centimetre long fine metal "threads". They are not connected as one long thread.
The micro-chip is the “bump” in the centre of a 15cm metal antenna.
They are sewn or placed into products one at a time eg the same time as sewing on the brand label.
EXAMPLES. In the video you can see a thread being sewn into a new polo shirt. They are pliable enough to slip into both new and existing products eg. open a few threads to slip into quality recovered garments for rent, resale, repair, slide in underneath the sole of a shoe, slip inside a handbag lining, unzip a cushion and place inside, attach to the label on a mattress.
The washable RFiD THREADS® can withstand -35C to 200C.
RFiD THREADS® generate a unique QR Code and barcode for customer engagement. Brands can also use our NFC ring code as a replacement or in addition to the QR code.
RFiD THREADS® are scanned using commercial UHF RFID readers.
MATERIAL SPECS
Can be cut slightly shorter with less readability.
Encapsulated in resin to withstand washing, drying, tumbling at -35 C to 200 C.
Highly flexible and robust.
4 option for RFiD THREADS®
non-washable
30 washes/cleaning,
60 washes/cleaning
thickest for tyres.
Other options can be manufactured including shorter and read less distance plus via R&D, a long continuous thread to feed into manufacturing machinery.
The RFiD THREADS® itself is circular; the metal thread can be recovered, reset and recycled into new products; see Secondary Market.
It uses less than 1% of metal compared to existing RFiD ‘tag’ saving 12.5 billion units going to landfill globally per year after sale.
RFiD THREADS® technology is patented and protected globally
Cannot be physically lost/stolen or mistakenly separated - stays with the garment wherever it goes
RFiD thread Tensile strength: 10 N to 100 N/mm2 +
Is washable, can withstand washing, drying, tumbling at temperatures -35 C to 200 C
Contains data that can be updated in real-time; is dynamic
Depending on dissembling stage many threads will be able to recovered, reset and reused
Solves the problem of identifying, sorting, categorising wanted and unwanted products for reuse and recycling opportunities just by passing through a corresponding scanner (fixed or hand-held)
Hand held UHF scanners reads 1cm to 5m and hundreds of products instantly and provides multi industry connectivity
Unlocks potential for garments pre- and post-sale, providing future opportunities for manufacturers and retailers.
It used less than 1% of metal compared to existing 'tags’ attached to garments saving 12.5 billion units going to landfill globally per year after sale.
e-waste compliance
The metallic thread is able to be removed manually or magnetized. Testing will be done to recover the threads after garments are commercially composted or re-processed through enzymes.
This enables us to retrieve and return threads to the system where they are able to be reset and reused.
