We brainstormed different ways for the robot to be able to pick up the objects as well as lift them up in order to launch them. We needed to figure out the design of and what technique we wanted to use for picking up the objects as well as if we were going to use a sort of conveyor belt to move them.
We built the robot during after school hours. The parts of our robot came from REV and Gobuilda. The ramp holder we used was 3D printed, which help the coragated platic sheet in the curve we wanted. Some focused on coding while others focused on building. There were some issues with attaching the launcher onto our robot, as we found the way we planned to attch it would be over the size restraints of 18'' x 18'' x 18''.
We had to test many aspects of our robot. One piece in particular that we spent the most time working on was picking up the balls and taking them up to the shooter mechinisim. We needed this function due to the nature of the game this year, so ensuring it worked consistently was crucial to the competetion.
We all practiced each position on the robot and were able to improve our skills on the robot. While practicing on the robot we were able to fix issues with our robot like the speed of our shooters. As well as fixing our robot, we managed to find the most accurate shooting positions and improve teamwork.
