Ages and course: 7th grade (12 -13 year olds), novice learners of French
Description of game: Students will solve riddles and complete tasks that are inspired by "escape room" activities. Students will record their answers on an embedded Google form on each webpage. The Google form has been set-up with "response validation". Students need to enter the correct answer before advancing to the next task.
The ultimate purpose of the game: Students will identify vocabulary and idiomatic expressions to describe weather conditions in French.
Is it competitive: No
The name of the game: La Météo Digital Breakout
The feedback will do the following for the student: Feedback will help students reflect about their understanding of vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to weather conditions. Feedback will also help transition from identification of vocabulary to application of vocabulary to compare and contrast the difference between weather and climate. Feedback will also build learner confidence so that students will be able to create their own weather report.
