We are very excited to hold the second week of CIID Summer School Costa Rica in the Jungle!
On this handy website, our partner Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) will guide you through the different options for your accommodation. Exciting activities are also available for you to enjoy during your spare time.

Overview
- Summer School participants can stay at a single, double, or triple room – rates differ accordingly. Bathrooms will be shared with other participants. Note that in some cases, single participants can book an entire room to themselves depending on availability. In those cases, additional beds in the room will remain empty.
- Accommodation needs to be booked directly with OTS, separately from your Summer School booking. We suggest that you proceed with your booking as soon as possible.
- All meals are included and take place in the Station.
- Transportation can be arranged for an additional fee at pre-agreed times.
- Prices are per person per night.
- Make sure you arrive at La Selva the night before the first day (19 of April) – travelling from San José on Monday morning can be tricky.

About La Selva Research Station
La Selva’s influence on tropical ecology is immeasurable and of great cultural significance, having served as a key training and research site for numerous professional scientists. La Selva Research Station pioneered private forest conservation in Costa Rica, as it was the first of what is now a large network of private forest reserves in the country.
The species richness of La Selva is outstanding, with more than 2,077 species of plants; 125 species of mammals (72 of them bats); 470 species of birds; 48 amphibian species; 87 species of reptiles; 45 species of freshwater fish; and tens of thousands of insects, arachnids, and other arthropods.

Family Houses. Book one of the rooms in a house with two rooms and a shared living room, porch, and bathroom. Near the Dining Hall.

Research Cabins. Book one of the rooms in cabin with separate rooms on two floors (stairs to the second floor). Several rooms share a bathroom.

Option 3 Single
River Station. Book one of the rooms in a rustic wooden building where several rooms share a bathroom. Rooms are on the second floor of the building reached by stairs. 600 meters from the Dining Hall.

River Station. Book a bed in one of the rooms in a rustic wooden building. Several rooms share a bathroom. Some rooms are on the second floor of the building reached by stairs. 600 meters from the Dining Hall.

Iguana & Tortuga. Book a bed in a room in a building where several rooms share a bathroom. Near the Dining Hall.

$68 per person for triple occupancy.

The daily rate includes 3 meals. Breakfast is served from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM; Lunch from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM; Dinner from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Vegetarian options are served. Efforts are made to accommodate special dietary restrictions.

We offer a wireless network available from the buildings without an access key (open networks). The internet speed is 40Mbps for all of the networks, shared among all of the people using the station.

After the workshops and during the weekends, you can book additional activities such as:
- Early Birding Tour (at La Selva) From 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM (maximum 10 pax per guide $100 per group)
- Night Walk (at La Selva) From 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (maximum 10 pax per guide $100 per group)
