US Lit
In US Lit, you will be putting into practice everything you have learned from your previous English classes. Here, we will explore literature that came from out of the United States of America since before its founding.
We begin with Native American Literature, and examine how their folktales, myths and legends characterized them as a people and helped to shape the States to what it is today. We continue with Slave Narratives, Colonial Literature and will look at Seminal documents such as the Declaration of Independence.
Much like a Social Studies/History class in some respects, the US Lit class will have a heavy focus on the writings that formed the country into what it is today, and that which has characterized its people.
Some essential questions to ask are:
How does literature demonstrate the beliefs of a people?
How do historical moments influence the literature during that time period?
What are the movements of US Literature and what were they in reaction to?

Weekly & Bi-weekly quizzes will be given via the vocab workshop website.
You will take 3 quizzes from whatever the current unit is, and upload screenshots of the results to the google classroom platform.
You will have 25 minutes to complete all three quizzes.
