Our key home-school communication tool is called Arbor. We use Arbor to record attendance and to report on student progress and behaviour. Over 99% of our parents have logged into and set up access to the Arbor Portal or have downloaded the Arbor app. There is guidance about how to get started with the Parent Portal and app here.
To create your account, you need to set a password. Your username is the email address we've sent this email to.
How to get started:
Go to https://login.arbor.sc and click Forgot your password? to set up your account.
You'll receive an email to this email address. Click the link in this email to set your password.
This will give you access to the Arbor Parent Portal. This can be accessed on any computer. You should then install the parent app on your phone.
Go to the App or Google Play Store on your phone and search ‘Arbor’
Click ‘Install’ on Android or ‘Get’ on iPhone then open the App
Enter your email, select the school, then enter your password
Accept the Terms & Conditions and enter the birthday of your child at Churston. If you have more than one child here, just choose one child’s birthday to enter - the other children should automatically link when the app opens.
Like all schools, Churston has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who holds overall responsibility. However, we also have an extensive safeguarding team, with colleagues taking specific responsibility for particular year groups to ensure comprehensive cover and support.
Designated Safeguarding Lead:
Mr David Lewis, Deputy Head Teacher
Deputy Safeguarding Leads:
Mrs Pili Hegarty — Safeguarding Lead for Year 7
Mrs Jo Denham — Safeguarding Lead for Years 8 and 9
Mrs Julie Beasley — Safeguarding Lead for Years 10 and 11
Mr Martin Swannell — Safeguarding Lead for Years 12 and 13
Mrs Kay Chatfield — Safeguarding Lead for Years 12 and 13
Mr Lee Shellum — Safeguarding Lead for Sixth Form
Further information about safeguarding at Churston, including how to raise a concern about a child, is available here.
We believe, genuinely, that financial circumstances should never stand between an able young person and an excellent education. Social justice is one of Churston's five core values - and this isn't just something we say. It shapes the decisions we make, including how we support families who need a little extra help.
Support is available for families where financial need can be demonstrated. If your child has been offered or is likely to be offered a place at Churston, and you're concerned about the costs associated with school life, we encourage you to reach out and have a conversation with us. To start the process, please complete this confidential form.
Every summer we update our Essential Information for Parents and Students booklet for new Year 7 joiners.
