OCR, B (Salters)

Year 12 topics

• Elements of Life;

• Developing Fuels;

• Elements from the Sea;

• The Ozone story;

• What’s in a Medicine?

• The Chemical Industry.

Year 13 topics

• Polymers and Life;

• Oceans;

• Developing Metals;

• Colour by Design.

There are three written examination papers at the end of the two-year course. They are:

Fundamentals of Chemistry (110 marks, 41%)

Scientific Literacy in Chemistry (100 marks, 37%)

Practical Skills in Chemistry (60 marks, 22%)

You will complete many experiments during the course; 12 of which will allow you to qualify for the Practical Endorsement.
