At GCSE the same themes are broadened with students being introduced to organ systems they will not have studied before, a greater variety of cutting edge applications of biology and greater detail in the processes they were introduced to at KS3.
We elucidate the core ideas with practical work that goes well beyond the core GCSE practicals and builds their skills for A level and beyond.

Heart, Blood & Cardiovascular Disease
Plants
Year 10 topics:
Communicable Diseases
Drug Development & Non-communicable Diseases

Nervous System

Year 11 topics:
Reproduction, DNA & Inheritance

2 written examination papers, each worth 50% of the final GCSE.
1 hour 45 minutes per paper, with 100 marks available on each.
A mixture of multiple-choice, short-answer and extended-response questions.
No coursework – all assessment takes place through the final examinations.
Students complete required practicals during the course, with practical knowledge assessed in the written exams.
