When will Home Learning be set?
Home learning will be uploaded to Google Classroom and Mathletics by Friday afternoon
When is Home Learning due in?
The following Wednesday.
How will home learning be marked?
A comment to homework uploaded to Google Classroom or a written comment to their homework book.
How will we celebrate Home Learning?
We will celebrate a pupil’s Home Learning by doing some of the following things: commenting on their work; sending home a positive text; giving them a Home Learning certificate; placing it in the Home Learning cabinet; awarding house points; awarding a Bronze Award or allowing children to ‘Show and Tell’ their learning at the end of the day/week.
What do we do if children do not complete home learning?
First of all we have positive systems in place to celebrate home learning. We are mindful that there may be a plethora of reasons for home learning not being completed and we are aware that this may be due to circumstances out of their (children's) control, especially for our younger children. We aim to work with families to ensure they are able to support children successfully.
Week 1: Remind children that their homework is due. Text parents to remind them that homework has not been completed.
Week 2: Call the parents and ascertain why home learning is not being completed. If the reason is technical knowledge then try and support. If this does not work then Pherone can support. If it is because they do not have the equipment then speak to Julie Dowling. In the meantime these children will need homework books.
Week 3: Action plan for those children across the year group who are not accessing home learning at home. Discuss during PPMs.
Follow up call to parents.
Week 4: Achievement Leader to call parents (if AL’s class then a member of SLT)
Week 5: Headteacher to call parents and create an individualised action plan.
Making the Most of Google Classrooms
How will Google Classrooms be used in school?
High-quality PPA videos and tasks for children to complete during PPA time.
Record a lesson in one class that can then be used across the year group.
For teaching and support staff training.
How will Google Classrooms be used at home?
It will be an expectation that all home learning is completed on Google Classrooms.
Teachers will set home learning weekly on the platform. This will be used if children or bubbles have to self isolate.
Where possible, video explanations of difficult topics or missed learning during Covid-19 to be uploaded as home learning.
What if children can’t access Google Classrooms at home?
Please speak to Pherone Griffiths if a child is unable to access due to technical knowledge or Julie Dowling if a child does not have the correct equipment. Books can be given to those children who are unable to access Google Classroom.
If parents need help purchasing technology, this will be a conversation to discuss how we can support the family with an iPad at home.
Children can be given a Home Learning book to supplement their learning at home but we will always work towards getting them on to Google Classroom.

Google Classrooms Expectations:
Teachers to prioritise ensuring that all children can access Google Classroom effectively at home
All Home Learning will be set, marked and monitored on Google Classrooms
All new starters will be set up with Google Classroom by the end of their first week.
PPA videos can be created and uploaded to Google Classrooms if you wish for the cover teacher to show these while you are not in the classroom. This can also be used to explain tricky topics that you have set for Home Learning.
If children need to miss school for an extended period of time then additional work to be set for them on Google Classroom
We will go above and beyond to ensure all children can access Google Classrooms and engage with the learning successfully at home. E.g. helping them to obtain a school iPad or offer support over the phone to the parent.
