The bell rings at 8:50 am to signal the start of school. Students enter the classroom upon being picked up by an adult at the elephant doors. At 8:55 am, the tardy bell rings. If you arrive to school at or after 8:55 am and see the elephant doors are closed, please enter the school building from the Canterbury Rd. entrance from the parking lot. Please obtain a tardy pass from the office and escort your child to class.
School is dismissed at 3:20 pm. Please be prompt when picking up your child at the doors by our kindergarten playground. Children that are considered walkers will not be supervised after being dismissed from school. If your child is taken to the overflow room, you will need to enter the building from the parking lot, scan your driver’s license, and sign your child out with the adult supervising him/her.
If there are any changes in how your child is getting home, please put it in writing. If your child rides the bus, we will put your child on the bus unless you inform us otherwise. We will not let your child go home differently from what you originally specified unless we receive this written notification. In addition, we cannot release your child to anyone who is not listed on the blue information card located in the office.
Your child will receive a take home folder. It is our means of communicating with each other and includes an aid for completing homework. Please empty the contents of this folder daily. Though homework is turned in on Mondays, please help your child begin being responsible by sending this folder to school daily. It may be best to have your child return it to his/her bookbag/backpack as soon as homework time is finished. Any notes, forms, or money that you need to send to school should also be placed in this folder. Please be sure to place money in a labeled envelope or baggie.
Please send in a HEALTHY snack everyday for your child to eat, even if he/she is eating a school lunch. Fruit, popcorn, granola bars, or crackers are good ideas. No juice, potato chips, or excessively sugary snacks allowed during this time. Also, please do not send in any snacks with nuts in them. We have some students who have nut allergies.
If you’d like your child to celebrate his/her birthday in school with a treat, please talk to a teachers prior to his/her birthday about what treats are acceptable. Ice cream is not acceptable due to lack of storage space. Non-food based treats are preferred this year because of student allergies and food preferences.
Please call the office to inform us whenever your child will be absent. Please send in an explanatory note with him/her upon returning to school. The attendance phone number is 216-371-7311.
Please label your child’s belongings (shoes, sweatshirts, denim jackets), as this is the best way to identify lost/misplaced items. His/her gym shoes can be stored at school.
