This learning model combines in-person instruction with an element of learning that takes place when students are away from the school setting. This model reduces the number of students in each school building and classroom to better accommodate CDC guidelines for social distancing. In a blended learning model instruction occurs in a combination of the following:
Time spent in a supervised, physical location away from home,
AND
Online delivery whereby the student has some element of control over time, place, path or pace of learning.
Both the in-person and online instruction will be created, curated and delivered by CHUH teachers. Additional district resources will be used to help support teaching and learning in a way that encourages personalization for the individual student. Students and families learning within a hybrid blended approach will attend school for a portion of the week for face-to-face instruction led by teachers and support staff. The remainder of the week, students will be engaged with learning new content and completing assignments via online platforms, remote instruction and/or distance learning. Students will be assigned specific days of the week to attend in-person instruction and then will have the flexibility to manage out of school tasks based on the schedule set by the family. Families with more than one student will have all students attend on the same days of the week and will have the same days where they will be working remotely. If an emergency closure is required, students would continue to meet virtually on their assigned in-person instruction days.
How to know if this is the best option for my student?
This option is good for students and families that are looking to have a set, in person and online, school schedule. Participating in a blended model allows students to have some direct interaction with their classmates and teachers, while reducing the overall numbers of students that attend school on any given day.

This model is designed for students and families who would like to maintain their connection to their enrolled school, but don’t yet feel comfortable sending their student(s) back to a traditional school building this coming fall. With mySchool Online, students will attend school remotely, following the standard school schedule and bell times. This learning model will incorporate many of the features that parents and students valued most about instruction this past spring, such as daily, virtual, interactions between teachers and students. Parents can rely on CHUH teachers to facilitate and guide student learning, provide feedback on assignments and learning goals and grade student work for elements of quality. Students will have scheduled times for live class sessions, and digital resources and assignments that can be completed and submitted remotely. This learning model provides families the flexibility to choose an instructional model to meet their needs during these uncertain times and reflects CHUH’s commitment to providing a high quality instructional experience, no matter what the setting.

How to know if this is the best option for my student?
This option will work best for students that want to learn directly from a CHUH teacher, participate in live virtual classes and maintain a daily schedule that mirrors what they would experience if attending in a traditional school setting.
This full time virtual school experience is ideal for students who wish to have more control over their learning path and pace, and for whom a flexible daily schedule is important. In this learning model, students often work on assignments during non-traditional hours and maintain contact with their teacher and classmates using web-based class sessions, email, text messages, and phone calls. This option is available for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade through a fully online curriculum. Enrollment requires a semester-long or year-long commitment, as well as an adult who can partner with the online teacher by serving as the learning guide for the student. Students enrolled in the Full Online School remain CHUH students and continue to have access to all offered sports, extra-curricular activities, a school counselor, and the health and wellness supports offered to all CHUH students and families.
The full online school offers accredited courses, access to academic advisement and college planning, and opportunities for advanced coursework including Advanced Placement and Career and Technical Education coursework. Students completing high school coursework through the full online school can earn a CHHS diploma, accepted by colleges, universities and other post-secondary programs. Students may or may not be instructed directly by a CHUH teacher depending on the number of students and families interested in a full online alternative.
How to know if this is the best option for my student?
This option is good for students who are looking to create their own schedule for learning, are self-motivated and have the support at home to successfully complete online coursework that is self-paced. Students that excel in a full online school will be able to self-learn concepts that are presented through recorded video clips and text passages that explain the new content to be learned. Teachers in the full online model serve as guides to student learning and typically do not present live lessons or instruction. In the full online school setting, students and families are responsible for identifying an adult who will serve as learning advocate for the student. Responsibilities of the learning advocate include making sure that the student is progressing through the course content as assigned, communicate with the online teacher, monitor assignment completion and provide support for learning as needed by the student. Families participating in a full online option will be scheduled to take required district or state assessments at the appropriate school building.
The Fully In-Person option is being explored for specific groups of students and would provide traditional school, 5 days per week. Student groups that would receive this option are students with an IEP who typically receive instruction in a self-contained group or intensive setting, and students in grades K-5. In this learning model, students will be provided daily, in person instruction designed around the recommended health and safety precautions for reopening Ohio schools. Movement between classes and interactions among students in different classrooms will be limited.
How to know if this is the best option for my student?
This option is good for students and families that typically receive instruction in a small group, or intensive setting, or for students that are not able to learn in a blended or virtual setting. Families that receive self-contained or intensive services based on an IEP will be contacted by the CHUH Student Services department to confirm this placement for instruction.
