Band is open to any student who plays a band instrument and wishes to perform. Each band student receives one group lesson per week. Group lessons are scheduled on a rotating basis during the school day. Before coming to the lesson, students are responsible for turning in and receiving all homework assignments. If an exam is being given during a lesson time, students are expected to take the exam and inform Mrs. Dwyer they will be unable to attend the lesson that period.
Supplies Required
I recommend buying a Music Stand for practicing at home.
Students are expected to bring their instrument, music, and a pencil to band. Students playing reed instruments (clarinet, sax, oboe, bassoon) should have at least one good reed and two spare reeds in their case at all times. It might be less expensive to buy a box from a music store or online rather than buying them one at a time. All brass players should have valve oil/slide oil and a spare rag in their case at all times. Percussionists should bring their own sticks/mallets.
For Clarinets:
Royal Reeds strength #2 - box or Rico Reeds strength #2 - box (Double check reed size with your child first)
Neck strap regular size (optional)
Rovner clarinet ligature (optional)
For Alto Saxophones:
Royal Reeds strength #2 - box or Rico Reeds strength #2 - box (Double check reed size with your child first)
Padded neck strap junior size or regular size (optional, but makes playing much more enjoyable)
Rovner alto saxophone ligature (optional)
