Sara Worden O'Brien began her musical studies on the violin at the age 10 in her local public school. Mrs. O'Brien received her B.M. in Violin Performance from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford in 2000, and her M.F.A. in Viola Performance from SUNY, Purchase College Conservatory of Music in 2002, where she won the Baroque Concerto Competition in 2002. She has a second Master's degree in Music Education from Lehman College (CUNY). Her mentors include; Basia Danilow, Oscar Ravina, Mitchell Stern, Katie Lansdale, Maria Lambros and Joey Corpus. An active educator in Westchester, Mrs. O'Brien has maintained a private studio since 1995 and since 2001 has been a teacher in the Croton-Harmon school district. She has participated in the Disney Grammy Collegiate Orchestra (1998), Ohio Light Opera Company (1999 and 2000), The Ridgefield Symphony, The Chappaqua Orchestra, and is a co-founder and member of Artemis Chamber Ensemble. She has also had the pleasure of conducting the Rivertowns Middle School Honors Orchestra in 2009 and 2014, and the 2016 Junior All County Orchestra. When she is not teaching or playing chamber music, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband Doug, and son Chase.
