Meet the teacher
Hello, I'm Mrs. Bartley! I have many years of experience working with students from Pre-K through twelfth grade since 2007. In my classroom I expect students to have respect for each other and for themselves. my students will learn not only from me, but from each other through collaboration. I am always reminding my students that we all have a different set of skills, that we are all good at something, that this is their journey towards figuring out what that is. I am so excited for the year ahead of us and hope that we can all stay happy and healthy!
Teaching Philosophy
The common core standards reveal that education is meant to prepare students for the workforce; career and college readiness are the common goals. However, I believe there are humanistic purposes as well. The purpose of education is to build a student’s intelligence, but also to develop their character and build an understanding of the world around them with the hope that one day they will be able to navigate independently through life with skills and morals that were learned through their educational experience. Education also serves social needs: growing, learning, and developing personal relationships with peers is a necessary experience and develops students’ social awareness. Education should encompass all the dimensions of the human experience and guide students in becoming contributing members in their communities and in the world. The purpose of education is to help students understand what it means to be human and to explore the world from multiple perspectives as they become life long learners.
