In-text citations should follow this format: (Author's Last Name, year, page numbers).
Example: The study concluded that the trait is "most likely recessive" (Brown, 2016, p. 300).
If no date is listed, put "n.d." instead of the year.
If no page number is listed, use the paragraph number instead like (Brown, 2016, para. 6) or skip this part of the citation.
Your citations page should be entitled "References" instead of "Works Cited."
You must cite any source you quote, paraphrase, or summarize information from in your paper.
Use NoodleTools to create citations in APA 7 format. Consult the Purdue OWL's APA Guide for help with citation questions.
Use boolean operators (and, not, or) and phrase searching (quotation marks) to narrow your search.
When using Google, stick with .gov, .edu, and reputable .org sites.
Remember to use the CRAAP acronym to assess sources, and pay close attention to currency and authority:
Currency - When was it published? The source should be as current as possible.
Relevancy - Is the information credible, on-topic, and presented at an appropriate reading level?
Authority - Who is the creator/publisher? Are they qualified to write on this topic? Does the URL reveal anything about the source?
Accuracy - Is the information supported by evidence and verifiable through other sources? Are references listed?
Purpose - What is the purpose of the information (i.e. to teach, to sell a product, to entertain)? Are biases detectable?
