'22-23 Theme and Verse

In the book Prince Caspian, Lucy looks at Aslan the Lion and says,

“Aslan, you’re bigger.”

“That’s because you are older, little one,” answered, he.

“Not because you are?” she questioned.

“I am not. But every year you grow, you'll find me bigger.”

In Ephesians 3:18, Paul prays for God’s people to

“grasp how wide and long and
high and deep is the love of Christ.”

That is all he wanted because he knew that this is everything we needed. Our worries, insecurities, selfishness, and anger all stem from our failure to grasp - to know and to seize the love God has offered to us in Christ. So, as the rest of the passage says, let’s reach out for it by faith, together with God’s people and know this love that surpasses knowledge.

God’s love is multi-faceted. It’s like a diamond, and as you turn it, it refracts light in new and marvelous ways. We want to be a community that explores this love, experiences its life, and exalts in the LORD of this love. God adopts us as His own. He justifies us through Jesus so that we can cease trying to prove ourselves. He redeems us so that our past sins are washed white as snow. And he is making us into new creations.
