The event began with the introduction of the band - WAVES performance; and right away one could see the "Josh" getting higher with each melody and with some people coming offline to campus with the relaxation of the lockdown. The impromptu beatboxing, performance by the band certainly left the audience in awe.
Students had joined online from different CHRIST Campuses. Those who attended the session got a virtual presentation tour of the Venue. The program had the feel of live concert as it was accompanied by hoots, cheers and applauds of those present.
Amidst all this, the crisis management and the will to keep the event going was appreciated by the audience who waited patiently for the chief guest to arrive and enjoyed the impromptu comedy of Shahswat . A fun game was played to invite people to display their innate talents and create a friendly space. A poem recitation, dare games, passing the balloon, unlike other leadership events, this event was one of its kind.
With each passing moment, the excitement grew as all the eyes looked towards the lift for the arrival of the Chief Guest. After two failed attempts and a burst of laughter, the chief guest arrived along with other dignitaries - Ms. Sangeetha Rajeev, singer, composer and the winner of the best pop singer in 2019 in Malaysia, Mr. Samuel S George, Mrs. Rashi Rutherkumar, mentors for PKCL and Miss Nishitha Prakash, alumni of CHRIST (Deemed to be university), Bangalore, who also was the editor of the magazine.
Nishitha generously shared the roller coaster ride of conceptualizing and working on the magazine with the team. She laid a constant emphasis on the fact that leadership is not about a position but about influence.
Miss Sangeetha shared her success story and kindly accepted all the requests from the audience for her hits songs, and sang making the audience go haywire. The audience danced to the tunes of the songs and the atmosphere was filled with laughs, applauds, hooting and cheers. The much- awaited cynosure of the event- the unveiling of the magazine finally took place. The event also was marked with the cutting of the cake for Miss. Sangeetha who was going to celebrate her birthday the following day, ending with the vote of thanks.
The Lets Get Hybrid event was not just an event that provided the students with great opportunity to showcase their leadership experience through organizing and working as a team; but it also provided the young leaders with the opportunity of putting into practice what they have been learning all along i.e. conceptualizing for the event, promoting the event, putting up games for the promos at the stalls for event, to interacting the students visiting the stalls, and to the pitch perfect execution of the entire program. The whole thing was pulled off within the 2 days of resuming the offline interaction, and our days of prior online interaction.
There were messes that occurred at the last moment but they turned out to be beautiful messes as they provided the team an opportunity to think on the feet, adapt and sort things out at the last moment. Through the event the students created a legacy to follow, going forward
