Communication Is The Essence of Leadership

Praveen Kenneth chair on leadership (PKCL) conducted a webinar on 23 September, 2021 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. The event was organized to engage the students and to help them build their communication skills in the context of leadership. The session was facilitated by Dr V Muthu Ruben, PhD and it covered the following aspects:

Secrets of Great Communicators:

• A good Leader is a good Listener

• Be a lifelong student

• Whatever you do give your 100%

• Greatness does not come from the position

Secrets of Communication:

• Always address people in a way that capture their

attention i.e. make a bond with the audience

• Begin with a bang

• Don’t read the speech, talk it

• Listen to people because communication is two

way

• One should know that when sarcasm should be

used

• There is always a difference between reacting and responding - you should not react to anything, try to always respond and in an assertive manner

• Try to build connections with people through your stories or real-life examples

• A Leader should always be remembered for good

things and leaders should learn to take responsibility

• One must make sure to keep these points in mind
