"How can you have charisma? Be more concerned about making others feel good about themselves than you are making them feel good about you." ~Dan Reiland
The Academic Administrative Processes Training was held on 7th and 10th January 2019 covering three cohorts of participants. The idea to introduce an Academic Administrative Processes (AAP) for department and centers in the university was the vision of Dr. Fr. Thomas C Mathew’. The objective was to make the whole institution charismatic, rather than just an individual. Fr V.C in his words said that “It is now the time to transition from having charismatic leaders, to having charismatic institutions, which is the need of the hour”. Dr. Anil Joseph Pinto - Registrar said, “Processes and procedures must be made more concrete and structured so that they, along with the core values, beliefs, and principles, help us in strengthening the university memories that have guided the journey till now”. AAP was going extremely critical to set standards of excellence to further the journey of success of CHRIST during its next phase. Hence the setting up of the AAP and the training of these processes for others to know was introduced across the representatives of the participants from within the institution.

The sessions began with an introductory note by Dr. Fr. Thomas C Mathew, Vice-Chancellor, Christ (Deemed to be University), and Dr. Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar, Christ (Deemed to be University). The registrar gave a brief outline of how the idea of implementing an intensive process such as the Academic Administrative Process (AAP) came into being. He briefly mentioned the major transitions institution has been through and what were the factors that greatly influenced the journey and handed over the session to the facilitator Dr. Snethil Kumaran.
Dr. Senthila Kumaran started his session by briefing the participants on the objectives and triggers behind introducing the Academic Administrative Processes. He highlighted the efforts of different people within the university who came together to out the AAP together. He introduced the five departments and teams that he was working with to present their department's academic administrative processes and what AAP was about. He added that the AAP is the SOP for the departments within the university but it is not set in stone and that it will need to go through 15 to 20 percent improvement in the processes every year, failing which it will lead to stagnation. He emphasized on the formula “People + Process = Performance”, which means to say that rich investment on people and processes will lead to a stellar improvement in the performance of the institution.
