About the Seminar

The media industry has grown exponentially from the 1990s and its dynamics continues to change and evolve with the technological revolution. With the penetration of internet and the number of smartphone users increasing day by day, the media landscape presents an interesting and challenging web of issues to be negotiated with. One such challenging and critical problem is the realm of media ethics and its implications in different socio-political and cultural contexts.

Invariably all the domains of media - whether it be films, advertisement, public relations, journalism, social media, etc. - need to conform to ethical standards. Challenges in the form of digital piracy, intellectual property rights, representation, trolls, fake news, paid news, ownership patterns, TRPs, user-driven content prioritization, etc. need to be addressed. Media Meet 2019 attempts to address such crucial issues related to media ethics and identify the ways forward.

Team Media Meet 2019 cordially invites like minded individuals from across various backgrounds, school of thoughts, professions, academic areas and streams of education to join us in creating dialogues and discourses on “Media Ethics" through original research papers.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Submit Abstract in 250 words, together with a brief biographical note .
The abstract file should be named in the following format “Name of the author_ Abstract”
Presenters are allowed to submit more than one abstract but only one will be selected for final presentation.
Abstracts with late submission/ incomplete registration form/ absence of registration form will not be accepted.

Full Paper Submission Guidelines:

Maximum word limit : 5000 words
Formatted in APA style sheet
Full papers that do not follow the format shall be rejected.
Plagiarized and copyrighted information shall be not accepted.
If the submitted paper or results have been previously published in another journal the submitted study will not be accepted
The file should be sent in the following format. “Title of the Paper_Name of the Author”

Publication

Quality papers will be published in Journal of Dharma (Scopus-Indexed).

Poster Presentation

Poster sessions present preliminary results of works in progress or projects that lend themselves to visual displays and representations. These sessions allow for engagement in informal discussions about the work with interested delegates throughout.

Guidelines for Poster Presentation

Poster boards mounted on stands will be provided with tape/pins.
Posters must be submitted immediately upon arrival to the venue.
Poster should consist of the title of the presentation, name of author/s, necessary illustrations, figures, tables, color photographs, charts.
Common dimensions for posters are A0 (47 x 33 inches) (118cm x 84cm). Poster should be well-labeled and easy to read from a distance of one meter. Lettering should be bold. If you will be posting typed material, use a large font size (24 to 30 pt) on white, pale yellow or cream-colored non-glossy paper. Avoid use of non-standard fonts. Use 1-inch margins. Use upper and lower case letters.
No audiovisual equipment is permitted for poster presentations.

Accommodation for participants from abroad and outside Bengaluru city would be considered by the organisers.
Request for accommodation must be sent, before 15 August, 2019.
Accommodation will be made available either within or around the campus.
Details about the number of male and female participants, accompanying faculty members, number of days, and contact details must be given.
Accommodation will be given on a first-come -first-serve basis. Early confirmation will be appreciated.
The payment must be sent in the form of Demand Draft addressed to Christ University, Bengaluru.
