This site is a guide for all students preparing for their GCSE Maths exams.
Key information
We are working towards the EDEXCEL 1MA1 specification
This is taken at either Higher (9-4) or Foundation (5-1) tier
There are 3 papers which are all sat at the end of year 11 .
All are 90mins long and worth 80 marks.
Paper 1 is non-calculator and papers 2 & 3 are both calculator.
You should complete as many of the past papers as you can and use the mark schems to mark them. You should learn from your mistakes and repeat the process over and over again.
You should do the practice papers repeatedly to improve your performance.
You should keep a record of each attempt at a paper and there is a template under the Checklist area to help you with this.
Working independently outside the classroom
Whilst lesson time will be spent on revision and practicing past papers, it is vital that you complete past papers and other forms of revision outside of lessons.
In these situations you don't rely on the support from friends and teachers that you have in lessons and you must rely on your own understanding and thinking skills.
Whilst some lesson time will be used for completing past papers, we know that students who revise outside of lessons do much better in their exams.
Revision guides & workbooks, etc
You may have these at home....dig them out and make use of them! Make notes on them, write in them, use them as best suits you.
