Memory Treasures

The Bible encourages us to read and use God's Word regularly. Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. We are to read and use it for ourselves and teach it to our children. Deuteronomy 11:18-19 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

For this reason we have Memory Treasures. In Kindergarten, we focus on memorizing one passage each week. We learn it in a variety of ways (say it, sing it, or sign it; sometimes all three) and have many repetitions throughout the week to memorize the passage. Students are asked to share God's Word with their family by repeating their passage at home. This list of Memory Treasures will assist you in knowing what passage we are focusing on each week. You are encouraged to ask your child about their Memory Treasure and notice how their knowledge and confidence in speaking God's Word grows throughout the week.

The date listed is the Friday of the week we are working on it. There is no formal recitation of memory treasures in Kindergarten by the individual students. However, they are having many opportunities to tuck these treasures of God's Word into their minds and hearts.
