LEOMAX and its affiliates (“LEOMAX”, “we”, “us”) respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how we collect, use, store, share, and otherwise process personal data when you use the ASKARI SMART CAMERA mobile application (the “App”) and any related services provided through the App (the “Services”).
For certain functions or special service scenarios, we may publish additional privacy notices that explain data handling for those specific situations. If there is any conflict, the specific notice will apply to that function or scenario.

We may process personal data—information that can identify you directly or indirectly (e.g., email address, phone number, device identifiers). We may also process information that does not identify you on its own, such as usage statistics.
You can choose not to provide certain information, but some App features may not work without it.
A. Using the App and cloud-related features
When you create an account / sign up (first time):
● Data: email address; country/region; nickname; encrypted password; profile photo (optional)
● Purpose: create and manage your account; communicate with you; provide core App access
● Legal basis (where applicable): consent and/or performance of contract
When you update registration details:
● Data: email address; country/region; nickname; encrypted password; profile photo
● Purpose: apply changes you request
● Legal basis: consent and/or performance of contract
When you log in and use the App:
● Data: device OS; device model; unique device identifiers; IP address; MAC address (where available); App version; network type; logs; and (only when needed for a feature) approximate location/latitude/longitude
● Purpose: provide Services; maintain reliability; troubleshoot; protect accounts and prevent fraud/abuse
● Legal basis: performance of contract; legitimate interests (security and stability)
When you add a compatible camera/device to the App:
● Data: device serial number (SN); model; Wi-Fi/network details needed for setup; device name; encrypted device password; timezone/DST settings
● Purpose: connect devices; enable configuration and management
● Legal basis: consent and/or performance of contract
Live View (real-time viewing):
● Data: device SN; device IP/port info; live video stream (and audio if your device supports it and you enable it)
● Purpose: display real-time video in the App
● Legal basis: performance of contract
Playback / recording access:
● Data: device SN; channel ID; recording file paths/identifiers; video stream used for playback
● Purpose: let you view recorded footage and manage recordings
● Legal basis: consent and/or performance of contract
Device activation and settings (registration and configuration):
● Data: MAC/IP; SN; model; firmware version; country derived from IP; device registration date; channel info; online/offline status; configuration parameters
● Purpose: register/activate devices; keep them working with the Services
● Legal basis: consent and/or performance of contract
Setting device name and cover image:
● Data: cover image; device name; channel info; model; SN
● Purpose: personalize and identify devices in your account
● Legal basis: consent
Device password / reset:
● Data: device SN; encrypted password; email address (if you reset via email)
● Purpose: secure device access; support password reset
● Legal basis: consent and/or performance of contract
Device sharing:
● Data: device SN; recipient email address
● Purpose: let you share device access with another user
● Legal basis: consent
Removing/deleting a device from your account:
● Data: device SN; account email and/or phone number (if applicable)
● Purpose: remove device association and related access
● Legal basis: consent and/or performance of contract
Alarm/notification subscription:
● Data: device SN; push notification token/ID; alarm snapshot (if your device/app feature provides it)
● Purpose: send alerts and event notifications you request

Cloud features (if you use them):
● Data: device SN; messages; video/record metadata; channel info (and cloud-stored files if your plan supports storage)
● Purpose: provide cloud backup, access, and value-added services
● Legal basis: performance of contract
User experience / analytics programs (optional):
● Data: feature usage, click/browse events, streaming durations, loading times, failure reasons, device/app identifiers, region, App version; limited device/location info if enabled/necessary
● Purpose: improve performance, reliability, and feature design
● Legal basis: consent (where required); legitimate interests (product improvement) where permitted
Feedback and support communications:
● Data: messages you send; attachments such as screenshots or images; diagnostic information you choose to share
● Purpose: respond to requests; troubleshoot; handle complaints
● Legal basis: legitimate interests; performance of contract
Account deletion / de-registration:
● Data: email and/or phone number (if applicable)
● Purpose: process deletion and remove personal data as required/allowed
● Legal basis: performance of contract; legal obligation (where applicable)
Diagnostics for abnormal issues (when requested):
● Data: App logs; fault records; technical/system info needed to diagnose
● Purpose: identify and fix problems
● Legal basis: performance of contract; legitimate interests
B. Video and audio data
The App may allow you to access video (and, if supported and enabled, audio) captured by compatible cameras/devices (“Surveillance Data”). Surveillance Data can include live streams, recorded footage, snapshots, and sensor/event data (e.g., motion detection), depending on your device features and settings.
Important: You are responsible for ensuring your use of cameras/devices complies with local laws (e.g., notice/consent requirements for recording).
We may process personal data where necessary to:
● comply with legal obligations, lawful requests, or court orders;
● protect vital interests or security;
● establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
● pursue legitimate interests (where permitted and not overridden by your rights).
We may share personal data in these situations:
Service providers and partners (trusted third parties):
We may use vendors to host servers, deliver notifications, provide customer support tooling, analytics, or maintain infrastructure. They are required to protect your data and use it only as instructed.
Legal compliance and protection:
We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request, or to investigate and prevent fraud, misuse, or security incidents.
Business changes:
If LEOMAX is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or insolvency, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Public interest and emergencies:
We may disclose information when necessary to respond to public health events or emergencies to protect people and property.
We are committed to protecting the integrity and confidentiality of your information. In compliance with Ugandan laws of date protection and privacy, we use organizational, technical, and physical measures designed to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Measures may include encryption, access controls, and security monitoring.

The App and Services are not intended for persons under the age of 18 years old (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). If we learn or if brought to our attention that children’s personal data have been collected without appropriate authorization, we will delete it where required.
Because we may use global infrastructure and service providers, your personal data may be processed in countries different from where you live which may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers (such as contractual protections and security controls) and/or obtain consent when legally required.
By using our services, you acknowledge that your data may be processed on servers located outside Uganda and you consent to these cross-border transfers in accordance with this Policy. You may withdraw this consent at any time, though this may limit your ability to use the App’s cloud features.
In accordance with the Uganda law on Date Protection and Privacy, you may have the following rights regarding your personal date;
● Access your personal data;
● Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
● Delete your data (where applicable);
● Object to certain processing;
● Restrict processing;
● Receive a copy of your data or request portability;
● Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (this does not affect prior lawful processing).
● Opt out of the use of the app.
To exercise any of your rights, please contact us at support@leomax.com. We are committed to responding to your request promptly and, in any event, within twenty-one (21) days.
For security purposes, we must verify your identity before fulfilling a request to ensure your personal data is not disclosed to unauthorized persons. It is your responsibility to provide accurate and truthful identification. LEOMAX shall not be held liable for any unauthorized access or processing resulting from the provision of false or incorrect identification information by a user.
We encourage you to review the Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data. If you do not agree with the updated Policy, you must stop using the Services and delete your account before the notice period ends. By continuing to access the Services after the changes become effective, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy
