Acadience Reading is a universal screening and progress monitoring assessment that measures the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through eighth grade. *7th and 8th grade Acadience does not have an "Above Benchmark" category.
The NWEA MAP Growth Reading test is a computerized, adaptive test which maps a student's academic growth and proficiency in reading. The test is adaptive, meaning the questions' difficulty level changes according to the student's previous answers.
The School Leadership team has evaluated this data and developed an action plan to help students grow and meet grade level expectations.
1: Staff meet at PD after each benchmark. They evaluate student data and created small groups with individualized learning goals.
2: Staff creates targeted lessons and will progress monitor these skills monthly to continuously monitor student growth in the coming months.
3: Students are currently receiving small groups focusing on these identified skills.
1: Promote literacy at home.
For younger students, read aloud and ask them questions, work with word lists provided by teachers, and provide opportunities for students to practice reading and writing words at their level. For older students provide quiet time for students to read and ask them questions about the books they are reading.
2: Engage with literacy within the community.
Go to the library, plays or concerts. Any activities that promote a love for language.
3: Utilize online programs to extend student learning.
