Nitrogen helps a lot of processes in our cells. It is a building block of things we need like amino acids, proteins, and even DNA!
Nitrogen helps make chlorophyll. Without chlorophyll, plants wouldn't be able to turn energy from the sun into food (photosynthesis). We wouldn't be able to eat plants or anything that eats plants!
Don't get too frustrated with the words "ammonia", "ammonium", and "nitrates." Think of these as necklaces with many beads. In each one, there are a few beads of nitrogen. Different bacteria make different necklaces. The characters in the nitrogen cycle that need nitrogen can only "wear" certain necklaces!
You should be able to identify all of the processes within the Nitrogen Cycle!
