This product has been updated with new science from the 2020 Guidelines for CPR and ECC and replaces the previous version (15-1010). If you are a student, please confirm with your training center that this is the appropriate product for your training.

The BLS Course focuses on what you need to know to perform high-quality CPR in a wide variety of settings. You will also learn how to respond to choking and other types of life-threatening emergencies.

Describe all the steps in the Chains of Survival.
Apply the BLS concepts of the Chains of Survival.
Recognize the signs of someone needing CPR.
Perform high-quality CPR for an adult, a child, and an infant.
Describe the importance of early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Demonstrate the appropriate use of an AED.
Provide effective ventilation by using a barrier device.
Describe the importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation.

The Heartsaver CPR AED course trains participants to give CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. It reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

The AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

The Babysitter's Training Participant Set provides an assortment of materials to better assist and prepare babysitters on the job. The Babysitter's Training Handbook is filled with information and resources useful for in-class and on the job. The Babysitter's Training Emergency Reference Guide is an easy-to-carry booklet that provides instructions to handle common emergencies such as bee stings and asthma attacks. Additional material is available on the Red Cross Learning Center for download.
The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course is for participants who are 11-16 years old. This training course will highly regarded with parents of young children and know as a strong national training program. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care safely and responsibly for children and infants. They will be taught several modules: babysitting business skills, childcare skills of diapering, feeding children, bottle-feeding an infant, leadership skills (encouraging positive behavior and rewards). During the class, participants will learn and practice first aid skills, CPR, abdominal thrusts and the use of an AED.
