Safeguarding Message: Revised Collection Arrangements for After‑School Events
Following recent questions and requests from parents, we have reviewed our collection arrangements for all after‑school events (e.g. clubs, discos, film nights). To ensure the safety and safeguarding of all pupils, please note the following expectations:
Year R and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
All pupils in Year R, Year 1 and Year 2 must be collected by a parent or carer from every after‑school event.
Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6)
Pupils in KS2 should be collected by a parent or carer from late‑finishing events (e.g. Friends events) and from all after‑school clubs/events during the darker winter months.
We strongly advise parents to collect younger KS2 pupils (Years 3 and 4) from all after‑school events. If a parent wishes their KS2 child (Years 3–6 only) to walk home independently, they must inform the school in writing before the child is permitted to do so. This ensures staff are aware of the arrangement. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining strong safeguarding procedures.
External Club Providers
We are sharing this policy with all external providers. An external club is a club that you pay for directly with a supplier and not through Arbor. We do have some school sports coaches who run their own businesses in an after-school capacity. External Clubs are responsible for ensuring they have accurate collection arrangements in place for every pupil in their care once the school day ends at 15:15. Please confirm your collection arrangements directly with them.
Moving to Arbor for School Meals - We’re excited to announce that we are switching our meal payment system to Arbor starting this September! What you need to do:
Please keep topping up your child's Scopay account so they have enough credit for the rest of the Summer term. (This is only applicable for Years 3 to 6, as Years R, 1 and 2 are eligible for Universal Free School Meals).
Watch your balance - to help our admin team avoid a mountain of manual refunds, please try not to overfund your account. Aim to have a near-zero balance by the end of July!
Bikes and Scooters on site - After an incident at Greenbank yesterday in which a child from the Infants was knocked over, please speak to your children about NOT riding their bikes and scooters on the school grounds. This message has also been delivered to all pupils in class today.
Lunchtime Supervisor vacancy - If you would like to join our Greenbank lunchtime team, please find the vacancy details here
New School Crossing Patrol Officer - We are recruiting an SCPO for Winklebury Way. For more information regarding the vacancy, please visit - Job Vacancy
Get ready Castle Hill, this half term we are launching our own Castle Hill Read-a-thon to raise money for our libraries! It's time to grab your favourite book, get cosy and start checking off those challenges!
Over half term, every child will come home with their own Reading Bingo card and sponsorship form. There are 9 challenges in total, and children can pick and choose which ones to complete - or aim for 3-in-a-row or even a full house! Whether it’s friends, family, neighbours, or even the family dog - encourage everyone to sponsor a challenge! We are celebrating all the different ways children can read, so remember they can also read audiobooks, graphic novels or comics as well.
When the children have completed their challenges, please collect their sponsorship money and pay it via the shop on Arbor (instructions below).
We will collect in their sponsorship forms over the first week back after half term, and we will have prizes for the most money collected, a full house is anyone who hits 3-in-a-row!
Paying money on Arbor:
1. Log in to your account
2. Click on 'School Shop Products'
3. Select 'May Read-a-thon'
4. Enter the amount raised and checkout

EVENTS:
CASTLE HILL PENNY DRIVE.. is an exciting, fuel-packed race so far (see the current race image below)
We started last Friday, so we have completed nearly a week and have had a different class in the lead every day so far! Each class has a Mario-themed car to race along the track in reception. Bring in as many coins as you can to give your car the most fuel!
Every child is asked to bring in any leftover coins - we don't mean to raid their piggy banks or savings! But all those little coins at the bottom of a bag or leftover in your purse can be used to fuel their class car! Prizes will be for the winning car and the most coins overall!
This competition will run until the end of the School Fayre on Thursday 21st May, so keep bringing in your coins and fueling up your class car! Coins can be brought to their teacher, or we'd be happy to accept coins in an envelope (with name and class on) into our letterbox, by reception.
FROZEN FRIDAYS!!
The Friends will be selling ice pops on the No-Mow after school again this Friday. If your child attends a sports club after school, they can still take part in the ice pops - please send in 50p in a named sealed envelope to hand to their teacher at the start of the day on Friday, and we will deliver them an ice pop at the end of the school day, just before their sports club starts. Ice pops cost 50p each (cash or card payments over £1).
MUFTI DAY
Friday 15th May is a MUFTI day, and all children are invited to wear MUFTI for the day.
If you are able, the Friends would really appreciate donations towards the Summer Fayre. This year, we are asking for the following. Please note that these options have been chosen to allow either new purchases or simply re-purpose something you already have (in a good, sellable condition).
YEAR R - Sweets
YEAR 1 - Keyrings & Fidgets
YEAR 2 - Stationery (colouring books, pens, gel pens etc)
YEAR 3 - Teddies
YEAR 4 - Teddies
YEAR 5 - Books
YEAR 6 - Bottles, anything from fizz and wine to squash.
Many thanks for all your kind donations.
SUMMER FAYRE - Thursday 21st May
Straight after our school sports day, we will be holding our wonderful SUMMER FAYRE!
We will have all your favourites - inflatable, water slide, games, face painting, toy & sweet tombola, bottle tombola, external craft stalls, cake stalls, raffle and soooo much more!
Sports Day will finish around 11.30am, allowing plenty of time for our much-loved school-wide picnic! This year we will also have pizzas from the wonderful Wood-Fired Pizza Van and the delicious Bartletts van (a local favourite!) for all those of us who'd prefer not to pack a picnic!! They will be serving from the end of sports day (around 11.30am) and stay for the duration of the fayre!
We are hoping you will all come and support our school, and if you've not already, please let us know if you can help run a stall for some or all of the fayre! We've also got a few more spaces for stalls or food trucks, so please get in touch if you know a business that'd like to join the fun.
