8th Grade Life Science

Welcome to 8th grade life science!

I'm very excited to be a part of Chippewa Falls Middle School. In 8th grade life science, every student will be given an opportunity to think like a scientist. Throughout the year, we'll be focusing on topics such as cells and cell processes, genetics, body systems, and microscopic organisms, amongst other units. Classes will involve group discussions, investigations, labs, and an opportunity for students to extend their understanding through the interpretation of data. My classes will challenge students while also being a fun, exciting, and welcoming environment where students are exited to learn.

A little background on me: This is my 16th year of teaching. I taught middle school science for the Flambeau School District prior to joining CFMS. I'm originally from Philadelphia, PA (so I'm a HUGE Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers fan), but have called the midwest my home in since 1997. My wife and I have been married for 21 years and we have two children. My daughter Emma is a junior at the University of Iowa and is studying to be a teacher, and my son Owen is a sophomore at Bloomer High School. We also have a sheep-a-doodle named Milo (who is also a certified therapy dog and will be joining us at school soon), a cat, and an orange bearded dragon named Pumpkin. In my free time I'm either spending time with my family, riding my bike, or playing guitar. I play in a few bands with friends and am in a cover band with another teacher from Flambeau as well as some former students. We're called Best In Class (get it?).
