Handbell Trio
Handbell Trio
FaLiSaD (pronounced felicity) means "With Great Joy". Our group was born from a particularly unjoyful time: the COVID pandemic. Originally a quartet, we came together as a pod of ringers who wanted to continue ringing while limiting risk.
Ringing in a small ensemble adds the extra challenge of sharing bells and performing without a director to keep time. As we grew together in friendship, ringing ability, and muscianship, we decided to name our group from the first letters of each of our names: FArrell, LIbby, SAmantha, and Dawn.
Farrell began ringing in the 4th grade at Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, UT. She joined Chime In! Music with a Mission in Bethlehem, CT shortly after graduating from the University of Connecticut. She is also a member of the Connecticut Handbell Musicians, who play in the summer when groups usually take a break, and the New England Ringers, an advanced group in Oxford, MA. When she’s not ringing handbells, she works as a biomedical engineer at a medical device start-up.
Sam began ringing handbells when she was 15, and has always been involved in music, earning two B.S. degrees in Vocal Performance and Acting/Directing. Currently, Samantha rings with Chime In! Music with a Mission in Bethlehem CT, where she also serves as the Assistant Director, and the New England Ringers. She is the director of the Connecticut Handbell Musicians, which she co-founded in 2015. Samantha and her husband, Mike, have two amazing kids, Dashiell and Penelope.
Dawn started ringing bells in 1999 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Bristol, CT. Dawn rings with the Connecticut Handbell Musicians (aka Summer Bells) and Chime In! Music with a Mission in Connecticut. She joined the New England Ringers in 2022. Dawn has been married to husband, Daniel, for 27 years and they have a son, Mark, and his wife, Whitney. Dawn has three grandchildren: Zoey, Nikolas, Zachary, the loves of her life!
