To help our children practice turn taking when talking, it is important that we engage them in conversations, not just "yes/no" questions.

• Ask your child to tell you about a movie or tv program he/she watched.

• Ask your child to make up a story about what some butterflies, bees, birds, cats, dogs, whales...did on an adventure.

• Ask a "What if..." question. Example: "What would you do if you were a dolphin for a day? What would you do if you could drive a car?" Help the student expand their stories.

• Ask your child to teach you how to do something step-by-step.

Para ayudar a nuestros hijos a practicar los turnos de palabra al hablar, es importante que los involucremos en conversaciones, y no solo en preguntas que se responden con un «sí» o un «no».

• Pídele a su hijo/a que le cuente sobre una película o programa de televisión que haya visto.

• Pídele que invente una historia sobre las aventuras de mariposas, abejas, pájaros, gatos, perros, ballenas, etc.

• Hazle una pregunta del tipo "¿Qué pasaría si...?". Por ejemplo: "¿Qué harías si fueras un delfín por un día? ¿Qué harías si pudieras conducir un coche?". Ayúdale a desarrollar sus historias.

• Pídele a su hijo/a que le enseñe a hacer algo paso a paso.
