About Mrs. Hass

Although I have a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from UC, Berkeley, a Masters of Business from National University, and a teaching credential from Fresno State University as Einstein once said, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious."  This profound curiosity led to my  teaching journey which began in 2001. Since that time I have had the privilege of teaching  Algebra, Pre-algebra, Life Science, Physical Science, Medical Detectives, Flight and Space,  Basic Computers, and - believe it or not - one year of 3rd grade!

Currently, I have a dream position at Bidwell Junior High School.  I teach  8th grade science, honors science, and our App Creators STEAM elective. Over the past three years I have been instrumental in developing a strong STEAM program at BJHS which has involved presenting several class concepts to the Chico Unified school board for approval.   I also became a certified Project Lead the Way teacher in order to teach several of our STEAM electives such as Medical Detectives, Flight and Space, and App Creators.   In 2016 I was selected by the National STEM Symposium to present my collaborative science, English, art, and history unit inspired by JFK’s “We Choose to go the Moon” speech.

Along with teaching, my other passion in life is my family.  Two of my biggest accomplishments are being a wife and partner to my wonderful husband of 22 years, and being a mother of three amazing children who really occupy most of my free time.   My favorite things to do are watch my kids play soccer, lacrosse, and football, as well as, hike and vacation with my family.

When I was younger I didn’t see my life going in this direction, however I am so grateful that I have not been in charge of this journey as I cannot imagine it being any happier or more fulfilling!
