Classrooms and school facilities are the result of teachers' time, effort, and personal investment.
When using a classroom:
Do not use or touch any items that belong to the teacher or students. This includes:
Whiteboards
Classroom supplies
Toys and materials
Teacher’s desk and personal items
Items inside student desks
Leave the room exactly as you found it—or better.
Important Reminder:
📷 School campuses are under video surveillance.
Your actions may be recorded and reviewed by school personnel at any time.
Students will be assigned reading every day for 20-25 minutes, depending on grade level.
Students must choose a hard copy book for this time and are not to use Chromebooks. Chromebooks will only be allowed for AR tests after completion of a book.
Students will complete 1–2 assigned pages from their school-issued homework packet.
After completing their assigned work, students may:
Read quietly
Complete a worksheet provided by staff. (Leaders will be provided resources to print or make copies of grade level worksheets to keep in their homework bins.)
Use a Chromebook to access approved educational websites. (Site Coordinators will provide a list of approved websites, and staff are expected to monitor this time and ensure students are using the approved sites.)
This time is to remain educational and students should not be using this time for coloring or free play.
✅ Stay in your seat
Remain seated unless given permission to move.
✅ Stay on task
Focus on your homework, reading, or quiet activity.
✅ Raise your hand if you have a question
Do not call out—wait to be acknowledged by a staff member.
✅ Use inside voices
Keep your voice low so others can concentrate.
✅ Show RESPECT
Respect:
Staff by listening and following directions
Other students by allowing them to focus
The classroom by taking care of the space and materials
✅ Listen and follow directions
Pay attention the first time directions are given.
Help children with homework and reading
Help maintain a quiet environment
Actively monitor the group by walking around, not staying in one place. Check in with the children and help them stay on task.
Set expectations and address minor behavioral issues. Major issues must be addressed by a staff member.
Reinforce positive behaviors
Give words of encouragement when children are meeting expectations. Saying things such as, “You are doing a great job staying on task.” “I’m impressed with how neatly you are writing.” “Good job working through that question on your own.”
Make sure the room or space is cleaned up and left better than it was found
Do not sit in one spot the entire time
Do not do your own homework, use your phone, or “chill”. Your full attention must remain on the children at all times.
