Camp Chi-Da-Ca is located at Hooker Oak Park. Please be mindful that we are using public space and all areas including benches, picnic areas, and bathrooms, and walking paths must remain clean after use. Tablecloths must be used for all food and craft activities at the picnic area benches. Park staff are available to help, but they should not be cleaning up after us.
Campers are assigned to their group and camp leader. Staff will welcome campers in their group and pick a group name. Each day campers will rehearse songs and skits to prepare for the Jamboree at the end of the week. Camp staff will set the example for campers by being loud and energetic during song practice. Staff will help campers with hand motions for songs and encourage campers to participate each day.
Oh we’re from Chi-Da-Ca, Our camp is a good one, We fight the mosquitos, They’re 7 feet tall!
Mosquitos may eat us, But they’ll never beat us; Cause we’re from Chi-Da-Ca And we’re on the ball!

Acorns will hike to 5-mile on Thursdays and will leave promptly at 9:00am. Acorns will return to camp for the all camp BBQ at noon.
Other small hikes and nature walks will happen throughout the week and will be determined by the camp Directors.
ICE CREAM! Oaks campers will make ice cream in a bag upon their return to camp on Wednesdays. The afternoon camp Director and afternoon leaders will prepare the activity and when campers return, ice cream will be served.
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup milk or half & half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons rock salt
1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (Ziploc)
1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
Ice cubes
We will be using an Ice Cream Maker. We will put the ingredients (whole milk, sugar and vanilla extract) in the chilled metal canister.
After that, set the canister into the wooden bucket and add ice and rock salt around the edge till its filled almost to the top.
Attach the electrical motor at the top and turn it on and watch as ice cream forms before your eyes. It will take about 40 minutes to make a good consistency.
Staff will review all guidelines for tye dye with campers before starting the activity.
Oaks campers will each receive a bandana on Monday to tye dye. They will be sent home on Tuesdays to be washed and ready for campers to wear to camp on Wednesdays for group pictures.
Each camper will receive a sandwich sized zip lock bag with their name on it. Staff will write names on each bag for each camper.
Acorn campers do not participate in tye dye.
Oaks Directors will ensure campers receive their tye dye back on Tuesday either at drop off or pick up.
Oaks will participate in archery daily. This area can get HOT! Please ensure campers stay hydrated and in the shade. Safety during archery is very important and rules should be reviewed daily. Structured archery is available each morning as well as some days in the afternoon.
IMPORTANT! Please review rules and safety everyday while at Archery. Campers who are not adhering to the rules will be asked to take a break and not participate for that period of time.
Campers should be using arrows appropriately and staff will set the example for campers.
Weekly BBQ is on Thursdays. Campers will receive a hot dog, chips, juice, and a slice of watermelon. Veggie dogs are available upon request.
We will provide hot dogs for all campers and staff who would like one. The camp Coordinator will be in charge of the BBQ weekly, and staff will assist groups as they go through the BBQ line. Youth Leaders will be asked to assist with chips, juice, and gathering supplies.
Every week, friends and family are welcome to join us in a performance put on by all campers. Acorns will sing songs and Oaks will perform both songs and skits. This is a camp favorite for all and staff are expected to bring their energy and be LOUD!
Staff are expected and campers are encouraged to wear their camp shirts on Fridays.
The famous song that we always start with is the CAMP CHI-DA-CA SONG!
Jamboree for Acorns will start at 11:15a and Oaks will start at 12:00p
Camp will continue to run until 5:30p on Jamboree days, and parents are also welcome to take their child home when the show is over.

As you utilize supplies, please put supplies back where you found them. If we are running low on an item, please communicate with the camp Coordinator.
Chores will include, but are not limited too the following:
Check camp areas for any trash and throw away. Check in around benches, as trash may be hidden!
Gather any clothing that has been left behind and place in lost and found.
Wipe down and stow away tables and benches at the end of each use. (morning or afternoon when they are being put away)
Lock up all camp areas before leaving at the end of the day or anytime the entire group is leaving the camp area.
Igloo water coolers need to be rinsed out daily and stored with their lids off.
Fanny Packs must be checked daily and filled with ice packs, band-aids, and hand sanitizer.
All items need to be put away, stored, and locked in camp sheds at the end of the day.
Make sure to return your walkie talkie to its charger in the fridge room and ensure it is plugged in correctly.
