Students will be assigned reading every day for 20-25 minutes, depending on grade level.
Students must choose a hard copy book for this time and are not to use Chromebooks. Chromebooks will only be allowed for AR tests after completion of a book. The site Coordinator will provide Leaders with a list of students and their current AR reading levels. Leaders will use this list to ensure students are reading appropriate books for their AR level. Leaders will select books from the ASP library based on the needs of their group and should keep these books for duration of the week.
Students will complete 1–2 assigned pages from their school-issued homework packet.
After completing their assigned work, students may:
Read quietly
Complete a worksheet provided by staff. (Leaders will be provided resources to print or make copies of grade level worksheets to keep in their homework bins.)
Use a Chromebook to access approved educational websites. (Site Coordinators will provide a list of approved websites, and staff are expected to monitor this time and ensure students are using the approved sites.)
This time is to remain educational and students should not be using this time for coloring or free play.
