Students have been working extra hard this semester to learn how to play music in a brand new way, virtually! We have built close knit communities despite our physical distance, and have had a lot of fun doing so.

Throughout the semester students have developed a wide variety of skills including;

• playing guitar, drums, or piano

• writing and recording original songs

• composing music for commercial use

• reading sheet music

• identifying structure in music

• playing music by ear

• improvising

Students have sparked and engaged in meaningful conversation about the role music plays and the role we all play as musicians in making the turbulent world we live in a better place.

I am very proud of how much these students have learned, and how well they have adapted to virtual education. As always, I am honored to work with such bright young minds and am excited to continue learning more as the school year continues!
