Vision

Our Vision Of the Cheshire High Athletic program

The purpose of the Cheshire High School Athletic department is to offer a competitive educational-based athletic program to our students that promotes opportunities and activities that encourage intellectual and physical growth.

It is the responsibility of all coaches to ensure that their players understand that while participation on athletic teams is an important and enjoyable aspect of school, it is not the primary purpose of our school. Players are students first and athletes second. However, we also know that the playing fields are an extension of the classroom where valuable lessons are learned.

By participating in athletics, students learn teamwork, cooperation, tolerance, persistence, patience, the value of lifelong physical fitness, sportsmanship, and the acceptance of winning and losing. Their coaches are important role models and student athletes look to them for guidance and leadership. Coaches must understand their role as mentors helping their players and teams learn and achieve and at the same time, work cooperatively with the school administration to ensure the safety of all student athletes.
