Welcome back to the final term. It seems like only yesterday we were out on home visits and now we are approaching the end of the academic year. It is amazing to see how the children have grown in confidence since those first few weeks. We are now looking forward to the exciting term ahead.
Here is our newsletter for this term, with all of the important information and dates you need to know.
This term's transdisciplinary theme is 'Sharing our Planet'.
We will be exploring the central idea 'People's choices can affect other people, plants and animals.'
The children have being enjoying this theme so much we are continuing for another term. We will be looking at bees and the important job they do for the environment and why we need to protect them. We will also be sampling some yummy honey!
As always we welcome your Tapestry contributions and would love to see some pictures of pets you may have at home and how the children help to look after them. You may also wish to grow some plants or flowers that your children can watch grow, or have a minibeast hunt in your garden or local area. The children always love to share their photos with their peers.
This term we will be continuing to encourage the children to write for a variety of purposes, including insect life cycles, Father's Day cards and stories about animals.
This term in maths we will be applying our number knowledge while learning about multiplication and partitioning. We will also be recapping all our learning in preparation for year 1!
Please save the date for EYFS Sports Days. We are going to start practising for sports day from next week. You may prefer to ensure your child is wearing trainers for PE rather than plimsolls as we will be going onto the field.
Can you please ensure your child is not wearing earrings for PE. This is for their own safety.
You will now be aware that Miss Ferris has joined us as Chestnut class teacher. Some of you may have had the opportunity to meet her this week. She is looking forward to get to know the children in preparation for taking some of the children up to year 1.
Hopefully over this term we will begin to see some warmer, sunnier weather!
Please ensure your child has a drinking bottle and sunhat at school everyday. Sun cream should be applied before coming into school and named cream bottles can be brought in for top ups on very hot days - although the children are required to reapply this independently. We ask that you do not send sunglasses to school as they get easily lost and could cause injury if broken.
