Our space is built on trust, respect, and support. Together, we help each other grow, learn, and shine. These guidelines keep us aligned with our shared values, and by registering for this cohort, you're agreeing to follow them.

We're here to lift one another up. Celebrate wins, offer thoughtful advice, and encourage each other — every kind word matters.

🌍 Be Respectful

Different backgrounds bring different perspectives, and that's what makes our community strong. Listen actively, speak kindly, and stay open to learning from others. Take time to reflect on your own biases and privileges as you engage.

❓ Avoid Assumptions

Cherry On Tech includes people of many gender identities, cultures, lived experiences, and learning styles. Don't assume anyone's background or story. We encourage you to add your pronouns to your Slack profile so everyone feels seen and respected.

🔐 Keep It Private

Don't share someone's story, name, or personal information without their clear permission, even if it was shared in a group chat.

📣 Welcome Feedback

We grow by learning from each other. Whether you're sharing thoughts on a project or giving feedback to a peer, keep it open, kind, and constructive.

🧠 Stay On Topic

Use tags properly and keep your posts and replies relevant and helpful. It keeps the space easy to navigate and full of value.

🚫 Zero Tolerance for Harm

There's no room at CherryOnTech for hate, harassment, or harmful behavior, including:

• Racism

• Sexism

• Ableism

• Ageism

• Homophobia

• Transphobia

• Xenophobia

• Bullying or discrimination of any kind

Every report is reviewed carefully before we act. Depending on what happened, next steps may include a conversation, a warning, or removal from the community. We aim to be fair and consistent, not reactive — but any harmful posts or actions will be removed, and the person responsible may be removed from the community.

💬 Use Inclusive and Respectful Language

At CherryOnTech, words matter. We aim to create a space where everyone feels respected, seen, and safe, no matter their identity or ability.

🌈 Inclusive Language Tips

• Use gender-neutral terms like "folks," "everyone," or "team" (try "Hi everyone!" instead of "Hey guys")

• Ask about someone's role rather than assuming based on gender

• Respect cultural differences and use thoughtful, welcoming language

♿ Anti-Ableism Language Tips

• Avoid words like "crazy," "lame," or "blindly" — they can be hurtful (try "that seems confusing" instead of "that sounds crazy")

• Use person-first language (say "person with a disability" instead of "disabled person")

• Be mindful of accessibility needs: share materials in accessible formats, use alt text, and be patient and supportive

Let's keep learning together and make space for all abilities, identities, and ways of expressing ourselves.
