I’m Janell Barber, and I’ve been part of the Peakview community for 21 years. I’ve had the joy of teaching students in grades 2–5, and I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade. Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband and two daughters, and I enjoy hiking and skiing whenever I can.
I am grateful to be part of the second-grade team this year and to be in my second year of the Aspiring Educator Program. I have worked in various roles within Cherry Creek School District for the past 4-5 years and truly love working with students and meeting each child where they are.
I am a graduate of Overland High School and a Colorado native. In my free time, I enjoy watching and coaching sports, including basketball, football, and soccer. I am also the youngest of three, with two older brothers.
I feel so fortunate to have a job that I love so much! This will be my 23rd year teaching. I have taught kindergarten, first, second and fifth grade. I love teaching and learning in the primary years where it all begins.
My time away from school is spent with my family. Being proud natives to Colorado, we try to spend as much time outdoors enjoying what our beautiful state has to offer.
I am so excited to be starting my ninth year of teaching in our amazing Peakview community! I taught first grade for five years and this will be my fourth year teaching second grade. I love spending my free time with my husband and dog, Cooper. We love golfing, skiing, and being with friends and family.
