Career & Technical Ed

Why Career and Technical Education?

Career and Technical/Skilled Trade education may be the best fit for many students. Students who plan on pursuing an education in career/technical, and skilled trades are encouraged to discuss their personal strengths, skills, and goals with their counselor during their junior and senior conferences.

CCSD also offers many CTE courses for students to take while in high school, as well as apprenticeships through CareerWise.

See your counselor for more information about either of these programs.

The CCIC offers seven in demand and growing career Pathways. Curriculum for each Pathway is rooted in real-world skills, with a focus on putting learners in an industry based culture and climate. Courses in each Pathway are designed to be successive by building upon the professional skills and knowledge gained in prerequisite courses.

Cherry Creek School District CTE

A Career & Technical Education pathway is a sequence of courses that provides students with the academic, technical, and real world knowledge, skills, and experience they need to be prepared for a variety of career options.

Through CareerWise Colorado, students earn a wage while receiving hands-on work experience where they can apply their high school classroom learning each week. The apprenticeship lasts three years to ensure that students have the experience to either enter the workforce upon completion or the perspective as to how and why higher education can help them achieve their career goals. Eligibility depends on student's maturity, reliability, commitment and graduation status. Modern youth apprenticeships are offered in the following career pathways: advanced manufacturing, information technology, financial services, business operations, and healthcare. Additional opportunities will become available based on student interest.
