Alternatively, you are welcome to provide your own chromebook for your child if you are happy for this device to be managed by the Cheney School IT Department.
This option will require a one time enrollment fee of £23.60.
We also offer a ChromeFlex service to extend the life of any Chromebook devices nearing end of life for a one time fee of £40
(Please be aware that we are unable to offer this option for Windows, Mac or Linux devices).
We use Securly's web filtering service for protecting students online inside and outside of school.
While inside school our filtering is geared towards safeguarding and focused learning as a priority. However while at home we encourage parents to take their children's online activity into their own hands to ensure that students can enjoy a more relaxed online environment without parents needing to worry about their safety.
Securly allows parents a flexible filtering solution with their free to use Securly Home App.

If your child's Chromebook is lost or presumed stolen, please alert Cheney School's IT Department as soon as possible.
You can contact them directly by emailing help@cheneyschool.org.
They will be able to disable the device remotely, preventing any user from gaining unauthorized access.
(Please note that all data on the device is cloud based and stored on Google Drive, this means that your child's data will be completely secure in the event of a theft.)
If your child is ill you can inform the school using the absence reporting form.
If your child is going to be late or has an appointment requiring them to leave school early please inform your child's head of year.
As an alternative you may contact the attendance team by sending an email to attendance@cheneyschool.org and providing the name, form and year group of your child along with your name and contact details.

Please be aware that any ongoing absence which has not been effectively communicated may result in the school contacting home, conducting visits or informing social services or police depending on level of concern.
Students with SEND are further supported by a range of in-class strategies and adjustments to ensure they are able to access the curriculum and some may also work with Teaching Assistants and receive additional small group provision. Targeted interventions, including literacy and English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, are also provided for students who are most in need. In addition, we offer ‘Star’ and ‘Up’ classes at Key Stage Three which support some students with their literacy, numeracy and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Please contact your child's year team as soon as possible to receive the necessary support with your child's long term absence.
In the event that your child raises concerns about bullying, please report it with the anonymous bullying incident form.

Homework at Cheney will be assigned to your child via Google Classroom. They will be able to access this resource remotely by signing in to a Google Chrome browser using their school login details. Once logged in they will have access to the student launchpad. From here they can access Google Classroom inside the "Google Services" tab.

If you are concerned about support for a medical condition or mental health diagnosis that your child has received, please inform your child's year team leader as soon as possible so that necessary support can be communicated and provided.

Cheney school provides a locked and sheltered bike shed for students and staff members. Students will be expected to provide their own locks.
They can access the student launchpad by opening their Google Chrome browser and pressing the home icon at the top left of their browser.
This will always work as long as they are signed in to Google Chrome with their school email address.
