Inorganic & Bio-Inorganic Research Lab

WELCOME

The Kaur Lab is involved in working in areas of coordination chemistry, bioinorganic/biomimetic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, homogeneous catalysis, electrocatalysis and photocatalysis.

The work involves the design and synthesis of transition metal complexes with the aim of understanding structure-activity relationships of the catalytic reactions. The main focus is on various aspects of activation and transformation of molecules such as H2O, N2, CO2, or H2, eventually leading to the development of alternate renewable energy resources using different combinations of ligands and metals.

The reactivity and kinetics of the processes is studied using various types of spectroscopic techniques and electrochemistry. In addition, theoretical (DFT) calculations are also carried out to study the mechanistic aspects of the catalytic events and intermediates involved.
