Each week you will complete some lab work and submit it to Canvas at the end of the lab session (though you may sign up for an extension to midnight of the following day if three hours of time is not enough). There are no labs on Tuesday, 11/11 and Thursday, 11/27.

Week 5 (10/28 or 10/30): Atwood's Machine

Weeks 7 and 8 (11/13 or 11/18): Energy Activity, Pendulum Speed
Week 8 and 9 (11/20 or 11/25): Rotational Energy
Week 10 (12/2 or 12/4): Ballistic Pendulum
Finals Week: Make-Up Lab
Each lab report will be graded on a scale of 0 to 5 according to the rubric from the general lab instructions. The final grade will be based on the average score for the term.
A = 4.00 - 5.00
B = 3 .00 - 3.99
C = 2.00 - 2.99
D = 1.00 - 1.99
F = 0.00 - 0.99
Lab reports and written homework must be submitted as a single pdf only. Please always name your files with your name and the name of the assignment included. Always submit images right side up. Do not ever take photos of your monitor; take screenshots instead. Work that is submitted in an unapproved format may be returned for resubmission or given a grade of zero.
Make-Up and Late Policy: If you cannot attend a single lab session for personal reasons (or you encounter serious problems with data collection), then you may make up the lab work during finals week without any explanation or notice. Simply show up (hours will be listed on Canvas) and complete your report that day. Other than this, late work and make-ups will not generally be allowed without negotiation in advance. Do not be afraid to ask; the answer is almost always “yes.” When negotiating alternate due dates, you do not need to divulge personal information; focus on what you need instead of why.
Incomplete/Unacceptable Report: You will be given a grade of zero and asked to resubmit your report if it has serious errors or omissions.
Resubmissions: You may resubmit any lab report up to 3 working days after it is graded. It will receive a 0.5 point deduction per resubmission unless such a deduction results in a lower score.
Missing/Unacceptable Report Deduction: For each missing or unacceptable (and not resubmitted) report, you will get a zero plus a deduction of 0.5 from your average grade. This means that you cannot earn an A without completing all of the labs.
Incomplete Policy: A grade of incomplete (I) may be negotiated when a student with passing work needs additional time to complete the course. An incomplete will not be granted as a substitute for a failing grade (F).
No-Show Drop Procedure: You are required to complete the first lab during the first week. Failure to do so may result in a “no-show drop” at the discretion of the instructor.
Grade Appeals: You have one week from the time anything is graded to appeal its score in writing. Failure to do so constitutes acceptance of the grade. Please (respectfully) appeal grades that you either don’t understand or think are incorrect. It can be an opportunity for learning and I do make mistakes.
